Is Acupuncture Really an Option For The Infertile

In today’s high tech world potential Moms and Dads are still seeking the age old techniques of acupuncture to increase their fertility. In the alternative health industry, acupuncture is by far the most popular treatment used for infertility.

OK, so what exactly is acupuncture, what can you expect from it as a treatment for infertility and furthermore does it actually work. Before you go looking for an acupuncturist maybe these are the questions you could possibly be asking yourself, if you do not already know.

The problems of infertility and Chinese medicine have a long and established association of which acupuncture is becoming increasingly popular.

This very traditional method of treatment is based upon the belief that the body consists of energy channels also known as ‘medians’ that circulate energy around your body. Acupuncturist believe that it is the blockage of these that lead to health problems, as this would reduce or stop the natural flow of energy around the body or certain organs.

Acupuncturists typically use very thin needles inserted into these meridians at particular points to remove the blockages, as the blockages are removed this allows the body’s natural energy to flow again, which in turn will allow the body to restore it’s natural balance.

Antidepressants Using Arise in The United States

Americans now are medicated Americans. Drugs cannot depart from our life. Antidepressants have become the third-most commonly prescribed medications in the US. There are 11 percent of women and 5 percent of men who are taking antidepressants. Americans are popping more antidepressants than ever before to deal with everyday stress, and non-psychiatrists are increasingly willing to prescribe the drugs to patients with no mental health diagnosis, a new study finds.

Antidepressants such as Prozac, Paxil and Lexapro are now the third most widely prescribed group of drugs in the United States. It appears that physicians may be prescribing antidepressants for more mild forms of mood and anxiety disorders, or for isolated psychiatric symptoms like sleep disturbance, nervousness or nonspecific pain, Doctor Olfson said. The study authors said the increases don’t necessarily mean that the drugs are being used inappropriately, but it’s necessary to understand why antidepressant use is growing and, if necessary, to develop policies that ensure patients get the most effective treatment.

Alternative Medical Systems Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine has been around for more than 2,000 years. It is one of the oldest and most reliable healing modalities in use today. It has been proven to be effective where the practices of western medicine have failed. This ancient healing therapy is largely based on the philosophical concept that our body is a small universe with an intricate set of complete and sophisticated interconnected systems. It is believed that the body is comprised of several interconnected systems that must function in harmony with one another for optimum human health and happiness.

How Does Traditional Chinese Medicine Work?

Disease is thought to have been influenced by major factors such as external or environmental, emotional, and lifestyle. Through the use of its modalities, TCM practitioners stimulate the body’s own healing mechanisms. Practices used in TCM are as followed:

  1. Acupuncture and Acupressure
  2. Herbal remedies
  3. Nutrition
  4. Diet
  5. Massage
  6. Chinese massage
  7. Exercise such as tai chi and qi gong with meditation

In this alternative therapy, the body’s internal organs are considered complex networks, worked and healed accordingly.
